Nail Technician
Are you looking for that special nail technician, one
that will make you will feel comfortable and at ease?
Let’s look at what makes a great nail technician!
First make sure that the nail salon is licensed and
that your nail technician has their own license and it
is in plain view. It should not be a photocopy.
In your nail technicians workstation area make sure
it is clean. There should be no dirt or dust of any kind
in this area. All disposable nail care products should
be disposed you should see disinfected and clean instruments
in the nail salon workstation.
Check around the workstation to be sure that your nail
technician does not smoke in the area. Many products
that are used in nail care are highly flammable so no
one should be permitted to smoke. Ventilation is very
important to make sure that the fumes from the nail care
products are not too strong causing a fire hazard as
well.
Your nail technician should be organized especially
in their workstation area. Look for containers clearly
marked with the contents of each and every item. Also,
as you sit and wait for your turn watch the nail technician,
they should thoroughly wash their hands with soap before
touching a client’s
hand, instruments and supplies that can not be disinfected.
Items would include the sponges and orange sticks used
in nail care.
Before you make your decision, sit and watch the procedures
that the
nail technicians use. Watch to see if they immediately
throw away disposable nail care products and keep a clean
workstation.
You want to feel at home with a nail technician, observe
the customers and workers to see how you feel, use your
intuition and make a logical decision as to whether this
nail technician is for you.
A nail tech should be friendly and courteous and
be eager to help you with any nail care questions. They
should be able to advise you on which type of artificial
nail is right for you and even what color of nail polish
goes with your skin tone. Watch and observe the nail
technician to see how interact with their clients and
co-workers. Were they helpful and caring to their clients?
Do they treat their co-workers with respect? Don’t
be afraid to ask questions, your nail tech will
be caring for your nails on a regular basis. You want
one that you can trust and become friends with.
